Bringing REACH visits to national level!

January 26, 2015

One of the success stories so far in REACH is that in Slovenia the government started to finance and implement visits to energy poor households at national level. The development of the national level program was triggered by an official from the Ministry of Infrastructure – Directorate for Energy, who previously worked on energy poverty and was aware of our REACH’s predecessor project, Achieve. During the kick-off event of REACH the government official was informed about the practices in other countries and soon the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Environment started to develop the national program for Slovenia with the support of Focus. The visits are implemented by the national network of energy advisers, EN-SVET, because this is the structure, which was already in place and useful for the purpose. Focus prepared a training for the network’s advisers in September 2014 and in October 2014 the first visits took place. REACH covers the regions of Zasavje and Prekmurje, while the national program covers all the other regions.
